The Oakland Raiders filled a major hole in their defense Monday, reportedly adding free agent linebacker Navorro Bowman.

Bowman was released from the San Francisco 49ers last week and the Raiders were reportedly interested almost immediately after his release.

General manager Reggie McKenzie drafted rookie middle linebacker out of Wake Forest in the fifth round, touting him a key piece of the future but he has been out with an ankle injury.

The 29-year-old linebacker has made four-straight All-Pro Teams, including his last full season in 2015. He played i just four games last season before tearing his Achilles tendon. Bowman also had a significant knee injury in the 2014 NFL Championship game.

The veteran linebacker has certainly looked like he lost a step after last year’s surgery, but there’s no doubt that he will add a veteran presence to a Raiders defense that has struggled.

Bowman will have a quick turnaround as the Raiders are set to host the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football.
