The Raiders surprised many when the released All-Pro punter Marquette King in the offseason, creating a hole in the roster.

Reggie McKenzie and the Raiders front office filled that need in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, selecting punter Johnny Townsend.

At the University of Floriday, Townsend posted a career average of 46.2 yards per punt. He’s got a big leg, but reportedly has a problem out-kicking his coverage sometimes.

He’s got big shoes to fill as King finished last year third in the NFL in net yards, with 42.7.
